This week the opening fixtures of the 2014-2015 school sports year took place. The U13 boys football team took on BSK at Hasan Abul in Dasma and the U13 girls netball team played ESF in a home game at TES. The boys and girls have been training hard in the heat over the past 2 weeks in preparation for the start of the season. The U11 A squad football team also played a friendly game this week ahead of their opening fixture of the season next week in the KFSAC football league. This year TES have U11 A, B and C football squads which is great for the school as many boys in year 5/6 are able to represent the school in sport. The A and B teams will play in the KFSAC league and the C team will have friendly games as and when they can be arranged against other schools. The TES staff team of teachers and coaches are thoroughly looking forward to hopefully another very successful year of sport.
U13 Football TES 8 v 4 BSK
TES U13 boys football team played their first match of the season against BSK at Hasan Abul on Tuesday. In a terrific game BSK began brightly passing and moving the ball very well. However with 5 minutes of the game gone Yousef Abul Enein broke clear and finished well to put TES 1-0 ahead. The striker then added a 2nd a few minutes later with a clinical finish after being put through by Warner Bartlema and he completed his hat trick soon after with a superb right foot volley. Towards half time Brian Al Saleh won a free kick on the edge of the box. He picked himself up, dusted himself off and curled a fantastic free kick into the top corner to make the score 4-0. In the 2nd half BSK came back into the game and scored 2 goals to make the score 4-2. TES then hit back and goals from Warner Bartlema and a super solo effort from Brian Al Saleh put TES 6-2 ahead. BSK then scored again but moments later Yousef Abul Enein made the score 7-3 with a rasping drive into the net. TES were then awarded a clear penalty which Yousef Abul Enein converted to make the score 8-3. BSK scored again before the end of the game but the result was never in doubt and TES claimed a fantastic 8-4 victory in their first game of the season. Unsurprisingly Yousef Abul Enein was named player of the match and the TES team deserve a lot of credit for a terrific performance. Next week TES take on NES on Wednesday 1st October at Hasan Abul.
U13 Netball TES 33 v 1 ESF
TES U13 girls netball team took on ESF in their first game of the season on Tuesday. It was a good game to start the season for TES and from the first whistle the TES girls were in complete control. The score ended 33-1 to TES with ESF finally getting a goal in the last seconds of the game. It was a very comfortable win but an important match for the girls to get under their belts and it gave all of the squad plenty of game time. Eve Peterson was named as player of the match but others also contributed very well to the victory with Aysha Al Arfaj in particular putting in a strong performance at goal shooter. Next week on Tuesday 30th September the girls play TEA at TES.
U11 A Squad Boys Football v TEP/KES Friendly
The U11 A football squad played two friendly games against TEP and KES on Wednesday before the start of the KFSAC football season next week. The friendly was played at TES and all three teams played in a round robin competition. TES played TEP first and won the game 5-0 performing well on the rubber surface. TEP then beat KES 1-0 and then in an exciting game KES beat TES 3-2 with a last minute goal. It was a good workout for the boys ahead of the season next week. All of the boys performed well but Archie Pearson was voted as man of the match.
