Year 1 and 2 Sports Day
On Sunday 10th February year 1 and 2 pupils took part in the annual sports day with many parents gathering to watch their children compete on a glorious morning. The events took place on the outdoor sports area and pupils competed in their house groups to gain points.
The events included: long jump, basketball shooting, bean bag throwing, throwing a rocket, 70m sprint races, obstacle races and a relays.
All of the pupils took part in every event. In the 70m sprint and the obstacle race pupils raced in their houses and the top two from each house competed in a final to gain points for their house. The morning ended with a relay race involving every pupil in every house.
There were some excellent performances throughout the morning and lots of points scored by each house. It was great to see such enthusiasm and and effort from all of the pupils and every pupil seemed to really enjoy themselves.
At the end of the morning the results were announced and Balmoral were named champions and awarded the house trophy. A big thanks to all of the staff that helped out during the day and well done to all of the children who performed with excellent sportsmanship and gave superb effort being shown throughout all of the mornings events.

Year 3 and 4 Sports Day
On Wednesday 13th March the year 3/4 pupils took part in their annual sports day held on the outdoor sports area. Many parents gathered to watch the events of the morning unfold on another glorious morning.
Pupils began the morning taking part in 6 field events. These were the high jump, long jump, triple jump, shot putt, javelin and discus (Y4) or ball throw (Y3). Each group rotated around each event scoring points for their house on each activity. After the field events pupils took part in the track events. These were the obstacle race, sprint race and relay. In the sprint race and obstacle race pupils competed against their house group and the best two in each house group raced in a final.
There were some outstanding performances throughout the day with many pupils excelling themselves and achieving lots of points for their house. All of the races were very close and a few even required photo finishes to decide the final positions!
After the very close relay events the results were added together and the overall winner announced with Sandringham named winners for 2013. Well done to everyone who took part and the teachers who helped out on the day. A superb morning thoroughly enjoyed by the pupils taking part and the parents supporting.

Year 5 to 8 Sports Day
The 2013 Year 5 to 8 sports day took place on Wednesday 20th February at Salmiya Stadium for the 4th year running. All pupils in year 5 to 8 took part in 66 track and field events throughout the day. The field events took place in the morning and included the discus, javelin, shot putt, long jump, triple jump and high jump. After an eventful couple of hours with many new school records set the track events took place. Pupils competed in the 100, 200, 300, 400, 600 and 800m races and the day was concluded with each year group competing in team relays.
Many parents came to watch the event and overall 33 new school records were set out of the 66 events. All pupils had a great time competing, supporting and encouraging their friends and team mates throughout the day. The day took place in glorious sunshine and finished with an exciting relay race between the teachers, security guards and the parents. A presentation of trophies to the outstanding performers of the day took place. The overall sports day winners were then announced to bring a superb Y5 to 8 sports day to an end. Many thanks to all of the teachers and staff involved in making the day a success and well done to all of the pupils who competed in a fantastic spirit throughout the morning.
