A superb week of sport here at TES. All fixtures have been won - a fantastic effort from all those involved.
A big well done to the Foundation Phase team on their sports day. All 5 sports days are now complete - an excellent month showcasing the talents of all our students ranging from 3-13 years old! Great stuff!
KFSAC U11 Girls Netball
Having had an awesome season so far, our girls were looking to retain the title of Netball champions.
During their friendly league, it was apparent that our girls really are looking good this season and are shaping up nicely for the BSME U11 Games in March. This season, they had scored an impressive 85 goals and conceded only 2, meaning they went into the coveted tournament as the clear favourites to win.
First off, they faced ESF. It took them a while to find their flow, making many unforced errors and giving the opposition too much possession. However, half way through the game, the girls began to play well, winning 8-0 very comfortably in the end. Next, they faced BSK, a tougher opponent and, once again, our girls took a while to settle and play decent netball. When they did however, they played extremely well and showcased the huge improvements they have made so far this year. It was a 5-0 win in the end. Our final group game was against TEPS. As was the theme of the day, the girls started off slowly and took a while to gain momentum. However, when they did, they were unstoppable. Only one goal was conceded today and it came from one glitch where our girls switched off and obstruction was caused in the circle. 8-1 was the final score, meaning we went through to the semifinals top of our group.
In the semi final we faced KES. Here, the girls suddenly stepped up and played very well from start to finish. Their passing and work around the attacking circle was excellent. Despite a couple of misses from our shooters, the girl still managed to win comfortably 7-0 in the end. That meant we were through to the final. All of their hard work and training came down to this final game. They certainly saved their best performance until last. Their movement, passing and vision throughout the court was excellent. The ball entered our defending circle only once throughout the whole game. The girls should be applauded for their fantastic performance defeating ESF 11-0 in the final. In the KFSAC season, the girls conceded only 3 and scored a whopping 124 goals.
All 11 girls played well today and from the start of the season, have done their bit to secure the trophy for another year. A sterling job by our U11 girls- well done champions!
ISACK U13 Girls Basketball
TES 45-2 TEA
The girls opened their basketball campaign at home today against TEA. An extremely shaky start meant that, after the first quarter, the score was only 5-2. Lots of unforced errors clearly indicated that it was their first game of the season. However, coming out into the second quarter, our girls really turned up the heat. Within 1 minute, we had added a further 10 points to our scoreline and TEA never looked like scoring another basket. At halftime, the score was 25-2. Fresh legs were brought on for the second half and the girls continued their awesome performance. Defensively they played much better and kept TEA chances to a bare minimum. One or two shots were popped, but we were picking up all the rebounds and capitalising on them. Moving into the fourth quarter, the girls looked confident and strong. They played extremely well all game and thoroughly deserved their 45-2 win in the end. All 10 players took to the court, giving each of them a chance to showcase their talents to a jubilant TES crowd. The girls are looking in good shape heading into the season. After the holidays, they have a week without fixtures and then take on ESF and KES in back to back matches. An awesome start girls - good luck for the remainder of the season!
ISACK U13 Boys Volleyball
TES 2 - 0 TEA
Our boys were also in action today, against TEA away at the Qadsiya sports centre. After their superb performances so far in the ISACk league, the boys were looking to achieve the treble and win the Volleyball title as well. Today started off perfectly, with a convincing 2-0 win against TEA. The opening set was a tight affair with both teams playing some good shots and with a number of entertaining rallies with both sides taking it in turn to win points and neither side being able to gain a major advantage. There was some very good link up play between Jack, Owain and Shaan which resulted in TES winning a number of long rallies. Despite a close opening set, TES managed to grind out a number of decisive points and managed to take the set 25-18. In the second set TES played very well using 3 touches and limiting their errors which led to a convincing win. The set started close with TEA taking a 9-7 lead, however Danny got on serve and helped the team win 14 consecutive points, to take a commanding lead in the set. Max and Woojin helped the team with a couple of good defensive shots each that allowed the team to get back into position and win rallies. The final score of the second set was 25-12. In the friendly set, the TES bench players played the whole set and Ahmed made some impressive shots, whilst Callum and Hamza did a great job representing the school for the first time. In the final set TEA won 25-22 but the match had already been won by that stage, great start to the season boys, well done!
