Year 7 pupils have recently really impressed their English teachers with some truly entertaining and informative presentations. All pupils received the same brief: To produce a three minute presentation about a country. Each talk should include both facts and opinions and engage their audience using the rhetorical devices we have been studying in class.
Whilst in the classroom, here in Kuwait, Tom took the audience to The Vatican in Italy, Evan showed a rarely experienced side of Korea, Davina spoke confidently about Syria and Milly got us excited about China.
In other classrooms, Ella and Sydney hosted an English and Scottish tea party while discussing the benefits of the United Kingdom. Highlights of Germany’s performance in the World Cup was discussed in Omar T and Omar A’s fun packed presentation (which was delivered in full Germany football kit), while James, Gianti and Jaden hosted an Australian breakfast complete with Australian flag napkins and a short film. Not to be out done, Bella and Humna provided traditional vegemite sandwiches and gave everyone a quick guide to speaking in Australian!
Pearse and Khaled had everybody’s feet tapping to Cuban music while they delivered fascinating facts. Perhaps the loudest presentation of all was on America! Rayce, Brian, Julius and Maksut exploded on to the stage demonstrating skateboarding, basketball and sharing hamburgers and brownies with their classmates. We ended our world tour with Shant and Sam taking us to Paris and this was all before 08:45!
With other presentations still to be delivered in English lessons this, we look forward to assessing more this week.
What a pleasure to work with such highly motivated, confident and creative pupils! The English department continue to be impressed with Year 7’s effort this term and are looking forward to marking their upcoming travel writing assessment at the end of this week.
