Year 1 and 2 Sports Day
Sunday 8th February 2015
On Sunday, 8th February Year 1 and 2 pupils took part in the annual Pre Prep sports day. The day began in lovely weather conditions and many parents came to watch their children compete in the activities. Year 1 started on the track events, which included an obstacle race, a sprint race and a relay. Year 2 began their day by competing in the field events. The events included a basketball shot, beanbag throw, rocket throw and long jump. The year groups then swapped over and Year 1 took part in the field events with Year 2 moving to the track events. All of the pupils gained points for their house, with 5, 10 and 15 points on offer in the field events and the finalists gaining points in the track events. Mid way through the morning the weather took a turn for the worse and heavy rain put a stop to the sports day. However, at 11am when the sky had cleared the pupils resumed and finished the sports day. At the end of the competition the house positions were announced with Windsor once again taking top honours. It was a fantastic day and all of the pupils had a lovely time taking part in the activities and gaining points for their house. Well done to everybody who took part.

Year 5 Sports Day
Thursday 12th February 2015

On Thursday, 12th February Year 5 pupils participated in the newly formatted inaugural Year 5 sports day. This year the sports day took place at TES on a beautiful morning with near perfect weather conditions for athletics. The day began with the pupils competing in the field events (high jump, long jump, triple jump, javelin, discus and shot putt) with each house group rotating around each activity. There was lots of differentiation with house groups scoring between 5 and 30 points for each event. The 5-point marker was quite easy for pupils to get whereas the 30-point marker could only be achieved by the very top athletes in the year group. As the events went on, points were accumulated and added together. After the field events the pupils competed in the track events. These events included the obstacle race, sprint race and relay race. There were some fabulous performances and every pupil tried their very best to succeed for their house. After the track events the morning finished with a tug of war between the houses. It was great fun and everybody took part, even the parents who defeated the teachers in a super show of strength! At the end of the tug of war competition the results were announced and in a very close competition Sandringham were crowned champions of the Year 5 sports day for 2015. It was a very successful day and everyone had great fun.
