On Tuesday 26th November TES ISACK boys U13 football team travelled to Hasan Abul for the final of the 2013/2014 competition. The squad worked extremely hard all season and progressed to the final after a fantastic semi final victory against BSK 2-0.
First Half
A large amount of support gathered for the final on a beautiful afternoon. The game began in fast and furious fashion with KES settling well and playing some attractive football. TES held strong and kept their shape well to eventually get a foothold in the game. As the half went on TES began to express themselves more and affectively started to become more involved in the game. A couple of half chances fell to each team but at half time the score remained 0-0.
Second Half
The 2nd half was very similar to the 1st with both teams staying very strong in defence and no real notable chances being created for either team. Alex McEwan fired a free kick straight at the goalkeeper and Yousef Abul Enein was unlucky to not force the ball home after a battle in the KES box. At full time the score remained 0-0.
Extra Time
In extra time again there was nothing to separate the teams. In the final seconds of the game Adam Gamali hit a volley from 20 yards out high into the air which almost caught the KES goalkeeper unaware. However, the ball went narrowly over the bar. The referee then bought the game to a close which meant the teams would face a penalty shoot out to decide the 2013/14 champions.
Penalties
After 5 penalties the score remained level at 2-2. The game then entered sudden death penalties. After 3 more penalty kicks the score remained 2-2. Both coaches then came to the decision that the fairest result would be a draw and for the shield to be shared between two very evenly matched teams.
The result meant that TES were crowned U13 Boys ISACK champions for the second successive year, which is a fantastic achievement. Well done to all of the squad involved in what has been a superb season during which the boys all worked extremely hard.
