ISACK U13 Girls Football Tournament
This year, the decision was made that two football tournaments would take place and that the overall champions would be decided, when the second Saturday of football has been played on February 11th.
Our first game was against NES, which we thought would be tough. Nevertheless, the girls went into the game confident and ready for action. The ball remained in the opposition’s half for almost the whole game. The girls had a few scoring opportunities, however lack of game experience meant that under pressure, they couldn’t find the back of the net. They did not give up though, and for the full 15 minutes, battled hard to find a goal. Unfortunately, the NES defense managed to clear the ball into our half, and a strong NES attacker fired the ball past Darcy in goal to take a 1-0 lead with only a few minutes left to play. Our girls continued to work hard and really did give it their all. But, despite their best efforts, they just couldn’t score the equaliser we needed. The game finished 1-0; a score not reflective of how well our girls played against tough opposition. Moving into our next game, we had a similar story. Our girls kept the ball in KES’ half, but could not finish. They tried desperately to find the goal they so truly deserved, but it wasn’t meant to be. KES managed to break away and take a 1-0 lead. Our girls tried again to score, hitting the post or kicking it just wide on a few occasions. But then came goals 2 and 3 from KES; a well trained team who proved to be too strong in the end. The final score was 3-0 to KES- who went on to finish 1st after not losing a game. We moved onto BSK next, where once again, our girls piled the pressure on from start to finish. They were making fantastic tackles in the middle and kept the ball in the opposition’s half. But, as in our previous two games, the back of the net just couldn’t be found. BSK managed to break away one time from our girls and on that one occasion were able to score the winning goal; 1-0 BSK in the end, despite some excellent defending, goalkeeping and tackling throughout the entire game.
Determined not to go home without a win, our last match was against TEA. Up til now, both teams had lost all their matches so were both hungry for a victory. Our girls came out strong and mounted the pressure from the get go. With the ball rarely leaving TEA’s half, the girls were finally able to score - not once, not twice, but 3 times in what was undoubtedly, their best game of football. All 8 girls featured in this game and are to be commended for their resilience throughout the day. The final score against TEA was 3-1. Well done to Zeina, Noor, Sydnii, Crystal, Lily, Sienna, Callie and Darcy. They finished 3rd in the end, with the second and final tournament to be held on Saturday, 11th February. Best of luck girls - it’s not over yet!
KFSAC Year 5 /6 Girls Netball Fixtures
This week saw the return of the Year 5 /6 Girls Netball league. It is a friendly league, aimed to give all schools across Kuwait, the chance to develop the overall standard of Netball. Last year, our Under 11 girls won every friendly fixture as well as every game in the KFSAC tournament. Can this year’s squad continue the 100% winning streak?
Well, they had a fantastic start! Their first game was against TEP, where they won comfortably 12-0. It could have been so many more, however changes were made at half time to ensure all of our girls had the chance to play and more importantly, to show fair sportsmanship to our opposition.
The girls played very well throughout the game. Their movement around the court was excellent and passing was, by and large, extremely accurate.
Our next game was against ESF. Once again our girls played very well, showcasing their hard work in training so far. All 11 girls managed to play and should be proud of their achievements. It was 12-0 to TES in the end, meaning we finished the with 23 goals scored and 0 conceded - a sterling job from our Under 11s! Next week, they face NES A and KES A here at TES. Fantastic start to the season girls!
ISACK U13 Boys Basketball
TES 26 - 12 TEA
The winning streak continues. The boys remain undefeated after a good win against TEA away making it four wins in row for the Under 13 basketball team. TES started the game really sharp and scored a number of layups from the lane. Owain was driving to the basket well and scored on his first five shots to give us a good lead early on. Defensively we looked very good with Ahmed, Shaan and Orestis getting a couple of steals and Nawaf and Maro adding a number of rebounds each. Danny, Matthew, Max and Shareef added to a good overall team performance by moving the ball well and communicating during defensive play. TEA were a physical team and made it difficult for the boys defensively but TES prevailed and came away with a convincing 26-12 victory. An excellent start to the season so far. The boys have worked extremely hard during training and this is being highlighted in their games - keep it up boys!
ISACK U13 Girls Volleyball
TES 3 - 0 TEA
This was another fantastic win for the girls. They have now won the last 3 games and show improvements every time. They started off slowly, making a couple of unforced errors in the early stages of the first set. After a team talk and a couple of changes, the girls found their form and came from 4 points down, to win the set 25-17. This was a great turnaround courtesy of some awesome serving and better movement around the court.
The second set proved to be a much tighter affair. TEA came out of the starting blocks strong and took a very early 9-1 lead over our girls. Once again a talk was had and the girls composed themselves. They served well and made some excellent return shots to claw the game back to 17-17. From here, TEA once again pulled away to take a lead of 21-17. However, never rule the TES girls out - they came back stronger once again to win the set 25-21 in the end, A special mention must be made of Maisy today, who not only managed to score a point on a serve for the first time, but did it 5 times over when we needed it most. A well deserved victory for our girls - they were resilient throughout and never gave up, even when they were 8 points down! We once again played a third and final friendly set, which was won with relative ease. All 12 girls made it onto the court and finished the match off brilliantly. A confident 15-2 win in the final set, means that the girls have now won 8 straight sets in the last 3 matches - an awesome effort! A place in the semi-finals has now been secured - best of luck, keep up the fantastic effort!
BSME U13 Games - Abu Dhabi
