Last weekend TES competed in the prestigious BSME U11 Small School Games. This year the competition was held in Dubai and was hosted by Sharjah English School. The squad competed in 5 sports: Swimming, Athletics, Football, Netball and Basketball. 9 of the best British Schools from around the Middle East took part in what was an unforgettable weekend of sporting action.
Day 1
Day 1 involved the opening ceremony and the swimming gala. TES swimmers were outstanding in the pool and every pupil performed extremely well in every event. There were many 1st, 2nd and 3rd place positions. At the half way stage the squad sat in 2nd place just behind JESS from Dubai. The results remained extremely close until the final relay with JESS just finishing ahead of TES with our super squad finishing 2nd overall. The TES swimmers were outstanding and should be extremely proud of their performance to get TES off to a fantastic start at the 2015 Games.

Day 2
Day 2 involved the athletics and basketball competitions and it would prove to be an exceptional day for TES. The children were absolutely fantastic and produced two outstanding performances.
Athletics
There were many superb performances from the TES children throughout the day in the field and track events. Each and every one of the squad gave everything for the team and we could not be more proud of their efforts. Throughout the competition the athletes gained lots of 2nd, 3rd and 4th place positions against some very strong opposition. At the end of the event the results were announced and TES finished in 2nd place behind winners JESS. It was a terrific performance in very hot conditions. Well done to all of the squad.

Basketball
In the afternoon the TES basketball squad took part in the basketball tournament. The squad players were absolutely amazing and produced some quite phenomenal basketball for a year 5/6 team. Lots and lots of teachers and parents commented on how fantastic the team performed and the way they played was truly a credit to TES. It came as no surprise to anyone at the tournament that the squad went on to easily win the competition. The squad won all of their group games: 10-0 v International Community School, Jordan, 16-2 v JESS, 14-2 v BSME Dream team, 9-0 v Dhahran. The semi final was against BISC and TES played some outstanding basketball to win 16-2. In the final, TES again played JESS. Again the squad put in an amazing performance winning 10-0 to become BSME basketball champions. It was marvellous to watch and everyone involved should be very proud of their performance. It is a massive achievement to win a BSME title and it was fabulous to watch the squad in action today.

Day 3
After the results from day 2 the TES squad sat in 2nd position overall just behind JESS. The squad knew that they would have to finish above JESS in both events to claim the overall title. It turned out to be an quite unbelievable day to bring the 2015 BSME Games to an end.
Football
After an unbeaten KFSAC season, TES hopes were high of doing well in the BSME football event. After beating Park House, Qatar 3-0 comfortably, the team stumbled to an unlucky loss against JESS 0-1 which in hindsight was the boost they needed. An easy 8-0 victory over a BSME select side got the team back on track and a 4 - 0 win over Dhahran, Saudi meant it was semi-final time.
British International School, Cairo was a stern test and after a cagey encounter it took an extra-time moment of magic to put TES through to the final against International Community School, Jordan. The final produced our best display of the day and the squad comfortably outplayed ICS to win 2 -0 to be crowned BSME football champions. A superb achievement.

Netball
It was an unforgettable day at the netball. The squad had a tough group and knew no game was going to be easy. TES started off a little shaky, but managed to win 3-2 against Park House from Qatar. After that the squad looked strong and beat tournament favourites JESS from Dubai, 6-5. TES then went on to beat another strong team, Horizon from Dubai, 4-2. Three out of three wins took TES into the semi final to face BISC from Cairo. Solid teamwork and superb netball saw TES entering the final with an easy 9-1 victory. In the final it was an unbelievable climax. At 4-1 up at half time TES thought the game was over. However, JESS had other ideas and pulled the score back to 4-4. The game then went from one end to the other with both sides cancelling each other out. At the end of the game it ended 6-6 and extra time needed to be played. Again, both teams cancelled each other out and after 8 more minutes of super netball the scores were 8-8. The game then went to a golden goal 4 minute sudden death period. Amazingly with the first centre pass TES took control showing true grit and determination to move the ball down court into the hands of Tamara who sunk the golden goal to win the 2015 BSME netball championship for TES. An unbelievably exciting final and what a result for TES.
