U13 ISACK Girls Volleyball
NES 2 - 1 TES
Last Thursday, our U13 girls played their last group match of the Volleyball season. They have already secured themselves a spot in the semi-final, but this would decide whether we have home advantage or not.
During the first set, both teams started off strongly. NES played some beautiful volleyball using simple 3 touches, and our girls did their very best to deal with this. Our serving was excellent and consistent throughout the set. Our girls got better as the set went on and began piling the pressure on the NES team who needed a timeout to re-group after we mounted our comeback later on in the first set. Both teams dug deep, however after one or two missed opportunities and silly unforced errors from our girls, NES took the first set 25-19 in the end.
Moving into the second set, it was very much a similar affair. Both teams playing with passion and throwing themselves into the game, but once again some superb volleyball from NES meant that we were constantly under pressure. Our girls were able to use three touches on a few occasions, and it has to be said, that the standard of volleyball being played by U13 girls was very good. In the early stages of the second set, our girls looked strong and were once again serving extremely well. A couple more unforced errors though, saw us lose the serve and then we struggled to get it back. 25-17 to NES in the end, who, were the rightful winners today.
We face NES once again this Thursday in our semi-final. The girls look more determined than ever now to beat them, and provided they use three touches and play with the same determination they have been recently, this will be a very tight affair! Wishing our girls the very best of luck.
U11 KFSAC Girls Netball
Two more friendly fixtures were played this Monday. This time we faced BSK and TEA. Both were comfortable wins in the end, but also a good opportunity for different combinations to be tried out around the court. A clean sheet was kept, with an impressive 25 goals scored and 0 conceded after 35 minutes of match play. 13-0 against BSK and 12-0 against TEA. Our girls proved too strong for both teams in the end- but they still have much work to do in preparation for their KFSAC tournament and of course, the prestigious BSME Small School Games in March.
Given that most of the team are new to the netball-ing world, the girls are beginning to find their flow and are gaining in confidence. Their passing is getting stronger and they are becoming more aware of each other’s strengths and weaknesses throughout the team. They communicated well tonight and are showing more determination and focus now against the opposition. They must be commended for their efforts so far. Having scored 61 goals and conceded only 2.
Next week, they face KES B and NES B here at TES in their final group games before the tournament on 20th February. 6/6 wins- can their winning streak continue?
U13 ISACK Boys Basketball
TES 38 - 8 ESF
TES cruised into the final of the ISACK basketball competition with a convincing 38-8 win against ESF in the semi finals. The boys started the game excellently and put the visitors under pressure from the opening tipoff. On offence the boys spaced well and attacked the gaps in the opposition defence with Orestis and Owain scoring a couple of baskets each in the opening quarter. Maro and Shaan battled well to win a number of rebounds against a very big front court. On defence TES never allowed the opposition any easy ball and limited the scoring opportunities for ESF. After the first quarter the score was 16-0 and ESF looked like a beaten team. In quarter 2, the visitors improved but TES still dominated the game and ended the half with a 26-4 lead. In the third quarter, all of the team took to the court giving each player the opportunity to make their mark on the game. All of the boys gave a pleasing performance, despite it being their lowest scoring quarter. They made good space and were great on the rebounds both defensively and offensively. The final quarter was was much better for TES, extending their lead and finishing the game with a 30 point advantage. A fantastic performance overall by our boys. Preparations for the final are now well underway. Having been undefeated this season, the boys look hungry to retain the title!
